Traditionally known for the treatment of back pain, osteopathy is an established system of diagnosis and treatment for mechanical problems affecting any part of the body – including neck pain and headaches, shoulder and wrist injuries, foot and ankle complaints, as well as overuse and sports injuries and the pain and stiffness of arthritis.
Techniques range from gentle releasing techniques to joint manipulation, in order to ease stiffness and improve joint movement. The high velocity thrusts (that may produce the ‘cracking’ of joints), may be used if clinically appropriate. The technique used will be specifically chosen by our osteopath depending on each individual case.
Osteopathy is governed and regulated by the General Osteopathic Council and is recognised by the British Medical Association. All registered Osteopaths must have insurance and follow a strict code of conduct.
